I was wondering if the PHP community took any time to think how much of an impact deprecating FILTER_SANITIZE_STRING would have on the community. In my case, I am a sole developer of my company, with HUNDREDS of websites that use FILTER_SANITIZE_STRING to sanitize POST input before being inserted in the database. Some of these websites have thousands and thousands of lines of code, I am absolutely disgusted the community could make a decision like this, the amount of work that is going to take to fix this will more than likely put me out of business. What the hell was the community thinking ?

I’m fine, because it was miss used for many scopes. There are better implementation based on the scope you really need instead that a generic toxic filter with such a generic scope.
